Storms River Village – a far cry from the bygone days of wild elephants and woodcutters.
The start of the Storms River Cycle Ride follows the old pass down into the valley through the most beautiful forests.
It’s worth carrying a pair of binoculars – we were fortunate enough to see a blaze of the red wings of the Knysna Turaco or Knysna Loerie as it was previously known.
The Storms River is typical of all the rivers in the region – brown from tannins absorbed from the vegetation.
Go carefully – some of the pools are deeper than you think and you may need to unclip quickly.
