Every now and then you come across an endeavour that kind of just makes sense... And you wonder why no one has done this before. So it is with Ground Zero Bike and Trail Park in George, South Africa. Brainchild of Riaan Barnard it's still very much a work in progress and at this stage there is a mountain bike circuit running along a ridge alongside the western bank of the Camfersdrift River, a kiosk where one can buy snacks and delicious cappuccinos, a few tables and chairs and a small practice track where you can try out your jumps, bridge crossings and berms. Nice!
The kiosk is open only on weekends at this stage but you're welcome to utilise the tracks (both bull runs and chicken runs) at any time.
There is easy access to the Witfontein Trails from Ground Zero so it makes sense if you arrived by car to park there, ride and pick up a coffee and a snack afterwards...
