Cape Town, South Africa! Where to begin... Surely one of the most beautiful and well known cities in the world, dominated by the equally beautiful and famous Table Mountain. Indeed, Sir Francis Drake, when he rounded the tip of Africa on his famous circumnavigation of the world in 1580, called it "a most stately thing and the fairest Cape we saw in the whole circumference of the earth". Well, yes!

Tourists are drawn to the area, taking in the cultures, sights, sounds, nature and outdoor activities - from abseiling to scuba diving to hiking and, of course, mountain biking and ebiking. If you have a mountain bike and know where to go, then you'll be able to head out on your own, enjoying everything on offer, from hair - raising single track to jeep tracks and country lanes.

We met at Peddlars Restaurant in Constantia for our eBike tour of the area with eBike Cape Town in the Western Cape, South Africa

But if you don't have a bike and don't know where to go, then eBike Cape Town provides a great alternative. Owner, Roland Pulinckx, set up eBike Cape Town to give those wanting a different Cape Town experience the opportunity to explore some of the Cape Peninsular's favourite destinations on ebikes. Without doubt a truly marvellous way to see the sights! He has a range of tours, and our ride around the leafy suburb of Constantia, taking in the beautiful wine farms of Buitenverwachting, Klein Constantia and Groot Constantia, was an absolute delight.

The single tracks on the eBiking (mountain biking) tour with eBike Cape Town were generally pretty good - not very technical at all.

We met at Peddlars Restaurant in Constantia, Roland arriving with a pick-up loaded with Giant hard tail ebikes. We spent a short while setting up the bikes, adjusting saddle height etc and generally familiarising ourselves with them before setting out. Then it was off into the adjoining green belt, winding along on some gentle single track, stopping off at interesting spots and photo ops along the way. As always in a group, the ride was at the pace of the slower members so they didn't get left behind.

We stopped at this interpretive feature - many of the fynbos plants occurring in the area could be seen here, the individual species labelled with their common and scientific names.

The Giant hard tail ebikes were in excellent condition and more than up to the task of riding the trails.

The ride took about 3,5 hours, including the time we spent wandering around Buitenverwachting and Klein Constantia as well as our refreshment stop at Groot Constantia.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Roland and can highly recommend his operation.
